Harry’s Bar is the perfect place for a pre-theatre meal or drinks after work. Ideally located on Newcastle’s most iconic street, Harry’s offers both an intimate dining experience and the perfect atmosphere for weekend drinks out on the Toon!
Location:
Just a short stroll and few minutes walk from Monument, Harry’s bar is in the heart of Newcastle and easily accessible by all transport links. Harry’s is situated directly across from the beautiful Theatre Royal and one of the favourite hot spots for pre-theatre meals and drinks. Inside you’ll find the restaurant is split into two sections, the bar and drinks lounge area and the restaurant area. I love the layout of this restaurant, its brilliantly laid out to offer the intimate feel of a meal or the relaxed area of drinks and cocktails with the crowd.

On the weekend after hours Harry’s is full of people boogying on down on the dance floor. Once the area has been cleared until late hours in the morning. Harry’s really is a good all rounder!
Harry’s Customer Service
On my visit we were greeted by our table waiter who took our coats and was attentive and friendly. He was ready to suggest and recommend the specials and deals that Harry’s had to offer and knew exactly what he was talking about. Which is refreshing as at times I feel others restaurants can lack in this area. Our food and drinks were served at the exact times we were told and I especially loved AJ the crepe maker! He was funny and had a great attitude and the crepes….well I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

The Food:
Harry’s offer a pre theatre menu with offers on throughout the week. Offering very reasonable offers and a great variety of food. The menu offers a wide range of food including pastas and steaks. I went for the lamb which was told would take 45 minutes to cook. As much as that would normally put my off, it was so nice to know it was fresh and was totally worth the wait. It was brought out on a tray and our waiter unwrapped the lamb and pulled it apart on my plate. It was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth! Katie got the pasta which was served in rose gold frying pan style dish and looked delicious.

The deserts really topped the whole meal off for us! We got the strawberry and marshmallow stack with pouring chocolate. Which not only looked brilliant, it tasted amazing. As mentioned before we had AJ the Crepe maker who brought the trolley out and freshly cooked the crepes in Grand Marnier. He gave us a show shopping desert.
Harry’s Drinks
I couldn’t help myself! I HAD to try the frozen Strawberry Daiquiri. I’m soooo happy it did. It was beautifully topped with a carved strawberry and it was amazing!
Harry’s offer a large range of cocktails and drinks. They have their own bar area if you just fancied drinks after work! Its actually a very busy spot for those wanting to switch off after work on a Friday! Cocktails start from £6.95. Worth it in my opinion!
Price
Harry’s have special offers throughout the week competing with other restaurants in town. The drinks are to be expected for a bar on Grey Street however you could just opt for a beer if you wanted as there is lots to choose from. The food price is average in my opinion, like every restaurant, you expect to pay more for certain beef, lamb dishes and seafood. However the menu offers a great variety for all with mouth watering dishes! I would definitely go back and the prices do not put me off.
