Estee Lauder Double Wear LIGHT Review
Estee Lauder launched their first skincare products in 1946! Fast forward to now and you can find their stands in every major department store, together with collaborations with Victoria Beckham and Kendal Jenner amongst other celebs, Estee Lauder is a brand EVERY woman knows!
Specialists in skincare Estee Lauder have a wide range of make up products and skincare products. I received a gift card for Christmas for a visit to Estee Lauder in House of Fraser and couldn’t wait to browse.
I always go to House of Fraser for my make up products simply because of all the great discounts and brands they have in store and the customer service is always excellent.
Estee Lauder Double Wear
One of the most popular foundations EVER! Almost everyone I know owns this and the great thing about this foundation is that it is consistent. Double Wear offers a medium to full coverage but In my opinion it’s always full coverage. Which is great if that’s the look your going for. It does last nearly all day too, but I really don’t like it when a foundation promises the same coverage all day when we all know that cant be possible and need a top up at least once a day. Another amazing thing about this is the range of shades and cover for ALL skin types offering over 40 shades!
The price is also a lot to pay however it is one of the best for coverage and SPF10 so I’m happy to pay £31.00.
The bad news: As much as I loved this foundation, because my skin is dry I can’t use this. The original Double Wear is a fluid texture and really drying especially for dry skin.
The good news: Estee Lauder have launched a “cushion stick” foundation and the “Double Wear light”.
Because I really wanted to give this foundation another chance I bought the Double Wear Light.
It’s designed with a cream formula meaning its better for dry skin and more hydrating. The only downside is that it doesn’t come in as many shades as the original however the shades are versatile so I wouldn’t worry too much! Go to the stand and ask for a sample and be colour matched if your worried.
The website states “Long-wear makeup is now lightweight makeup. Fresh, natural, comfortable. Goes on sheer, leaves skin free to breathe all day. Controls oil, resists smudging and won`t melt off through heat and humidity. For a look that stays vibrant and fresh whether it`s a workday, a workout or a weekend. It`s makeup that keeps up.
Oil-free. Photo-friendly. Fragrance-free. Non-acnegenic. Dermatologist-tested”.
In reflection of this post I really wish I had took photos to show you my skin but you’ll just have to trust what I’m saying. I don’t normally have acne prone skin. Only when its time of the month if you know what I mean.
This foundation is oil free so I’m very surprised that it brought me out on spots sooooo bad. I was also trying a new concealer too so I took the time to establish what was causing my acne but unfortunately it was this foundation. I’m so disappointed with this. I tried for 2 weeks every day using the same foundation, cleaning my brush ect but nothing changed. Maybe its just me but I would not recommend this foundation, I would defiantly recommend the original and for dry skin tones make sure your use a hydrating primer and maybe only use for a night out.
Advanced Night Repair Mask
I also picked up the Advanced Night Repair Recovery PowerFoil Mask £16.00 for 1 mask.
This mask comes in 2 parts. The upper half of the face and the bottom half. The mask is drenched in a double dose of Advanced Night Repair serum and aimed to hydrate your skin leaving it youthful and brightened.
Almost every skincare brand are designing masks and its bang on trend at the moment. Why is this different?
Well, no one else has Advanced Night Repair. Apply this mask, leave for 10 minutes then rub in the excess serum once removed. Its as simple as that.
The results are amazing! My skin has never felt better, like a baby’s bum if you want me to be honest haha. I’m writing this post from the next day of using it and even now my skin is still feeling amazing. They offer a pack with 4 masks in but they are not cheap. Definitely going on my bday wishlist!
