Sunderland Restaurant Week is back for the second year running in 2017 in partnership with Sunderland BID.
After the success of it’s first year, Sunderland is welcoming back Restaurant Week from March 11th till March 19th with over 50 food places taking part!
I love food places of all types, and am passionate about local business getting the business they deserve. Restaurant Week offers great opportunities for local businesses to profit but they your help!
What’s in it for you?
Across Sunderland you will have the choice of 2 or 3 course meals ranging from £5, £10 to £15 and believe me when I say you will be trying some of the regions best food at bargain prices.
I’ve rounded up some of my favourite places and my TOP recommendation for you guys.
Based in the City Centre, Royale Thai is a small restaurant offering authentic food and great prices. We tried the golden wraps, fishcakes, dumplings and spring roles. I have never travelled to Thailand before but been to many Thai restaurants. Their menu offers a range of authentic dishes. I loved the golden vegetable parcels. This restaurant is great for couples of small groups, I wouldn’t recommend a large group going as it is a very cosy, intimate restaurant. Perfect for date night!
Perfect spot for food and drinks …or BOTH!
Offering a selection of amazing cheeses and nibbles you can catch up with the girls over a burger and cocktails or just order nibbles on a night out! A great atmosphere for casual catch ups or shots at the beginning of the night!
The staff here were lovely. They showed us their special valentines shot. They really do know their stuff when it comes to mixing and drinking. Be sure to check their new cocktail list out!
Port of Call
Located on Park Lane, Port of Call has a brilliant vibe!!! (and amazing Cake!!)
Port of Call is bar that offers a great selection of ales and cocktails, great mixture for the Men and the Ladies!
They also offer brilliant deals on coffee and cake…yes CAKE!!!! It’s more of a lunch place I would say the menu offers an great selection however if you looking for an evening meal then read on!!!!
This is my favourite by far!
Café Bistro is located in the newly refurbished Sunderland College, formerly based at the Hilton. This restaurant is a commercial restaurant which is also a training restaurant led by training professionals. The restaurant offers a fine dining experience and the menu is to die for!!
The menu has a large range of offers including a 9 course menu for £25, outside of restaurant week.
The customer service was excellent and the food even more delicious then expected. For me this is my favourite place in Sunderland and don’t be put of by it being in the college or judge that the food wont be good because it has trainee chefs, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The bistro offers the chance to experience fine dining at a discounted price, because if your like me, I couldn’t afford this otherwise.
My Recommendation: If your going to pick ONE place to eat during restaurant week then Café Bistro is my pick of the list!
So, there you have it, a few of my picks, be sure to tag #eatdrinksunderland when your trying out your meals!
