Eat Your Way to Glowing Skin

Do you love your skin? If you’re obsessive about skin care products, apply cream to your skin on a nightly and daily basis, and you take great care at choosing the right creams and oils for every situation, then you’re probably quite content with how your skin looks like currently. However, there are times when no matter what you do to your skin, it just doesn’t look quite how you would’ve imagined it. Sadly, there’s not much you can do in this situation outside of constantly trying new products in order to find the best one for your uses.

But this is when your diet can come into play. Beautiful skin starts with our insides. This is because whatever’s inside our bodies will (not literally) be reflected on our outside appearance and this typically includes the skin. A healthy diet is perhaps the key ingredient that you’re missing, so even if you’re constantly trying to keep your skin glowing and looking beautiful, it might be your diet that’s holding you back.

It’s important that before you change your diet, you should visit a qualified all-purpose dermatologist such as Cedars Dermatology. Don’t visit beauty salons for health advice if possible, always focus on the businesses and services that offer complete packages that can help you with your skin. This is because radical changes in your diet can cause unintended side effects to your appearance, and you always want to be sure of what changes to expect.

Maintain a Diet

One of the first things you need to do is actually stick to and maintain a diet. If you’re currently going through a strict calorie-controlled weight loss diet, then you probably don’t want to alter it for a better glow diet yet. Drastic changes to your diet can have adverse effects that ultimately affect the skin, so don’t be too hasty with any changes you make.

Hydrate Yourself

Checking your daily intake of water is perhaps the first thing you should do before changing up your diet. During the summer, you need to drink a little more water than the other seasons. Dehydration causes your skin to look dry, flake and eventually start cracking. 8 glasses a day is the recommended amount, but drinking more is never a bad idea especially to quench your first. Try to drink water as often as possible and substitute your coffee and tea for it as well.

Good vs Bad Fats

There’s a major difference between eating good and bad fats, and it’s important to try and make that distinction. Fats from foods such as ice cream, chocolate and cakes are mostly all bad fats. However, fats from things such as fatty fish, walnuts and flaxseed are actually considered “good” fats that will help you maintain healthy and supple skin.

Fruits and Vegetables

Many fruits and vegetables contain vital vitamins and antioxidants that your skin. It repairs cellular damage to help keep you glow, and they boost your immune system to protect your skin from future issues. Colours matter with fruits and vegetables, so try to eat a wide variety of different fruits and vegetables to get the full spectrum of benefits in your body.
