I’m so excited about Septembers Sunderland Restaurant Week! So many changes have been happening in Sunderland since it’s last restaurant week and I’ve been able to have the opportunity to check out the new and exciting places ahead of next months restaurant week.
Last year was a huge success and this year promises to be bigger and better with roughly 50 restaurants participating in the event from 9th September for 1 week. We were treat to some highlights to show you a sneek preview of what to expect! For more information and the full list of restaurants participating click here.
Sunderland welcomes it’s first Prosecco bar offering the finest Italian wines around. The owner took time to introduce us to the newly refurbished downstairs area! Its a great luxury hotspot for prosecco lovers and the more mature audience who are looking to try some amazing Proseccos from all over the world and great cocktails.
The area has hidden coves and is beautifully lit to give the feel of an intimate classy lounge area.
This is gong to be very busy over the weekends and appeals to more of a corporate clientele. On the weekend they are going to have entertainment such as jazz which truly fits the atmosphere of the prosecco bar.
It also offers fantastic cocktails and other spirits and is the perfect place to visit for a girly night out! It is situated downstairs in the building that was once the Mowbray Park Hotel and is alongside The Funky Indian, a very popular place to eat at the moment!
Situated on the ground floor of the Echo 24 bulding the restarant offers a modern twist to pan asain food. Asiana offers something like no other restaurant does in Sunderland, the owner has travelled extensively round Asia and brought the flavours and dishes back to Sunderland!
When we visited its was busy and that was just a weekday! This place is a great hub for the people of Sunderland and very popular. If you haven’t been here you need to go and check it out. There’s no other place I Sunderland to enjoy the amazing panoramic views of the river wear and there’s dishes to enjoy all day long. We were lucky enough to enjoy the sunset and it was beautiful! The food was amazing too, we had a starting platter and I was very impressed with the ribs and the curried prawns! You have to give them a go! The atmosphere of the place is great and customer service is excellent.
Port of Call are back again for restaurant week but this time they have a new Tipi tent situated at the back of the port of call building on Park Lane.
Last year was a great success with its desert platters and this year was great again! Port of Call offers locally sourced heart food! Great for drinks and snacks too and situated over 3 floors so there’s plenty to offer for everyone. I love this place, it’s a great centrally located modern restaurant and bar for everyone to enjoy!
We had great cocktails and dinner in the Tipi tent. We were treat to a large array of meats! Ideal for the men who love meat dishes! The chicken burgers went down very well and the pulled pork was amazing! The Tipi is a great addition to the bar and I can see this being very popular on weekends, a great place to meet and have drinks.
