A Romantic Weekend In New York
Valentine’s Day is over for another year now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rekindle your passions the rest of the year. This includes thinking about your next holiday destination. From a highland fling in the wilds of Scotland to a passionate weekend in Paris, the world is your oyster. And as we all know, oysters evoke passion, or so people say!
In this article, we are going to get on a jet plane (not literally) and consider that most magical of American cities, New York, with some fabulous ideas for a weekend away with your beloved. After reading this article, you will want to sweep your partner away, get on the next flight, and book a place at the Albany Marriott to begin your New York lovefest.
Visit the Museum of Sex
You probably didn’t think such a place existed, but it does, right here in the heart of New York. Explore your saucy side in the erotica-themed Funland exhibit, get hands-on with some of the ruder exhibits, and learn about the birds and the bees (as if you needed telling) with the ‘Sex Lives of Animals’ exhibition. You can also watch some naughty movies from over a century ago and view some illicit images from as far back as the 1850’s. Oh, and there’s also a sensual VR experience for couples that will bring you closer than you ever thought possible. Guaranteed to stir your passions!
Take to the waters at night
There are all the touristy things to do in New York, but when you’ve seen Lady Liberty once, you probably don’t need to see her again. Unless, of course, you take one of the Manhattan by Sail cruises and take a magical tour under the stars on the New York Harbour. Seeing New York lit up at light is a truly fantastical experience, and it helps you see Lady Liberty in a new light (literally). Hearing the gentle ripple of the water and enjoying the fresh breeze brushing through your hair, sit back with a cocktail, and enjoy this most romantic of experiences under the night stars.
Have a laugh together
A couple who laugh together, stay together. Okay, so that is a terrible misquote, but there is some truth in it. A little fun spices up every couple, and if you are looking for some laugh out loud experiences, you really do need to visit the Comedy Cellar. This is where famous comedians come to test out new material, so you never know who might drop by for a performance. Such luminaries as Chris Rock and Amy Schumer have taken to the stage, and often hang out after their performances for a meet and greet backstage or at the Olive Tree Cafe upstairs.
Visit romantic movie locations
So many movies and so little time, but we recommend the following places as a must-see, especially if you want to recapture some of that movie magic in your relationship. So, make like Woody Allen and Diane Keaton from the movie Manhattan, and sit beneath the Brooklyn Bridge; have what Meg Ryan’s having at Katz’s Delicatessen, made famous in When Harry Met Sally; climb the top of the Empire State Building like King Kong… no, sorry, we mean Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle for a romantic rendezvous; and splash through the puddles at Central Park, mimicking heartthrobs George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer in One Fine Day. You can also take a movie tour so you never miss a moment at some of these famous Hollywood locations.
Have we tempted you to pack your bags yet? New York is a truly magical city, and one place that is worth visiting at least once in your lifetime, especially with your other half. Let us know if you have any other ideas for a romantic weekend to rekindle the love in all of our relationships.
