Jersey Boys: The Story
You can take the boys out of Jersey but you cant take the Jersey out of the boys.
The musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The highs and the lows of their careers and journey as a band and perfectly told featuring the favourite hits to take you back to the 60’s. It depicts a true life story of the battle of the bands and the hard times they faced trying to make it big.
Both funny and heartwarming, the show takes us through all four journeys from different perspectives but with the same Hits for everyone to sing along to. And that they did! the opening night was full of all ages dancing in their seats and singing along, all with clear different favourite songs.
The show captures the real life stories of that they went through and the decisions they had to make as a group to get ahead. I really love how real the characters were never mind the singing voices! They were REAL people and hats why the world loved hem and they made it to Hall of Fame because of those fans after selling 175 millions records worldwide.
Jersey Boys: The Cast
Simon Bailey as Tommy Devito kicked off the show with his smooth charm and naughty ways getting us in full swing for the show. The perfect “bad guy” that you couldn’t help but LOVE! He brought the true Grit to the show and if your a lover of musicals you’ve probably seen him before with his huge list of roles he’s played across he UK.
Bob Gaudio, played by Declan Egan was a late comer in the band but an excellent songwriter and great attribution completing he band. I loved his manner throughout the show and the perfect person to play such a regal part of the show. The character is loveable and I adored how we went through the journey of him becoming a man! I had no idea “oh what a night” was about THAT!- no spoilers, you’ll have to see it I’m afraid.
Lewis Griffiths…oh Lewis Lewis Lewis. Played the part of Nick Messi, an original to the band. The base player and the one who taught Franki Valli how to truly know a melody. Oh and also the funny and good looking one if you hadn’t guessed, but of course that is my opinion.
What? You didn’t think that such a successful boyband spanning for decades didn’t have a hottie? If I told you he also played Jonny in Dirty Dancing on stage then you’d understand. His role was dynamic and he was great as transitioning from Mr serious to Mr not so serious. I loved the depth of his role.
Last but not least, the amazing headliner Frankie valli Played by Dayle Hodge. What an actor and WHAT A VOICE! I’ve seen a lot of performances off all types but no one has ever surprised me with a voice like that! With a string of musicals both on stage and TV he was the perfect resilient actor to withstand the whole show! What a man
