This week I decided instead of taking the Easter Holidays off with the kids, I would take it early and visit a new hotel and spa, Oulton Hall.
I had never heard of this before but saw that Laura from Girl Talk With Laura had visited and it looked amazing. It has a great North east location near Leeds and really easy to get to so I had a look around for some deals.
The Hotel
Oulton Hall is part of the Q Hotels Group, if your a lover of Spa Hotels then you’ll know who they are.
This Luxury 18th Century mansion is grounds to not only the stunning hotel, but a spa and a golf course of 27 holes.
The grounds are amazing and as we pulled in, we could immediately see how much of a hot spot this was and it wasn’t even Easter yet! I wanted to avoid the craziness of Easter and went mid week yet it was still busy. Not manic, so our stay was still relaxing.
It’s not hard to see why the hotel is popular with weddings, the landscapes are a perfect backdrop and enough to make anyone feel like royalty. Each room is stunning! There are so many to talk about I’m not sure where to start.
The reception of the hotel is stunning and it continues throughout with more amazingly tiled floors, grand fireplaces and amazing décor. After we checked out our rooms we headed for Dinner at one of the 2 restaurants on site. The Calverley Grill is located in the middle of the hotel and is the buzz on an evening before drinks.
The Food: Oulton Hall
The service was impeccable and the food was to die for. It’s been a while since I had such amazing food. We tried the goats cheese and pate starter. I was very surprised how well apple went with cheese. The mains were like no other, I tried pheasant for the first time and of course the Duck and both were presented and cooked to perfection. I really felt like a princess in luxury.
The dessert wasn’t too bad either! Recommended by the lovely waiter the chocolate treat was perfect to end the meal.
After our drinks we went into the champagne room for our free Gins as part of the Spa deal and of course, more wine. The room was buzzing with overnight business groups and was the perfect place to relax on the comfortable chesterfield sofas.
Each room has more doors leading to more rooms and areas to sit and chill. It was so easy to switch off and relax. From above the main hall you could overlook the balcony and it was giving me really titanic vibes. The Hotels also hosts conference rooms, a real treat of your on a training day!
Oulton Hall VIQ Bedrooms
The Hotel has 152 rooms and all with free Wi-Fi and custom made beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen. It’s a 4 star hotel for a reason. The rooms were modern and the beds to die for. I did not want to move!
The rooms are not far from the restaurants and everything is in great distance from each other. We had an upgrade to a VIQ room which meant we had a free mini bar to keep us occupied which has wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks. The toiletries were also very high class and the cleanliness was on par with the hotel. Unfortunately our room had a problem with the Sky TV so we were moved but because of the inconvenience we ended up having both mini bars!
Oulton Hall: Breakfast
The next day we headed down to breakfast back in The Calverley Room which had a selection of fruit, cooked breakfast, toasts, cereals and fruit juices to choose from. Once again we were greeted like royalty and the service was amazing!
We didn’t have far to go to the spa at the end of the corridor, Oulton Hall is Small but big enough to no feel like just a person in a hotel. Even after the night before I had not noticed how close it was!
The Oulton Hotel and Spa
The Spa was busy from the moment we got there. The whole spa like the hotel itself had so many hidden rooms. The main spa had a great size pool, Jacuzzi and to the side some tropical showers, steam and sauna. Both of the steam and sauna rooms were great size and very clean.
The pool was overlooked by the gym which had clearly had many classes on and again was busy. In the main lobby was the reception and the area for refreshments and lunch. It was lovely and comfortable but I must say, it was such a busy day, a weekday to my surprise. That I think it should be a bit bigger. That or either better organised as there was lots of people waiting and confused what to do as I think their booking got mixed up as did mine.
However we had lunch eventually and it was lovely. The scone was delicious and we had our free prosecco with the meal. Again it was part of the package we had booked.
All of this was after our treatments. Myself and my friend had a 60 minute treatment each.
We had the revitalise body scrub and back massage the rooms were really big and was able to fit in 2 people however we were took in separate rooms. I preferred this, its easier to relax. After then we were took into the treatment room which I didn’t see on the way in. It’s hidden away as is a VIP treatment room.
This room had sofas with blankets and fresh water and magazines. Designed to make you fall asleep if you ask me, and perfect to sit after a message!
The beds were able to be moved to incline and recline and I could have stayed in here all day, except I had to drive home.
And Relax ……….
The whole pace was buzzing, with gym classes and aqua fit but soon quieted down. When we arrived at the Oulton Hall spa we noticed a man asleep in the corner, maybe a long night but we left him to sleep. 3 hours later he was still there, sound asleep. Like I said, a great place to relax hahaha!
Prices
So, as you can see, the offer for Oulton Hall we had was great. The price I paid didn’t include the upgrade. However the rest was all included in the price on the Spring offer and £105 per person.

I went here for a blog event last year and I loved it too. I didn’t stay overnight but your room looks so comfortable. Loved the relaxation room though, totally agree you could fall asleep in there after a massage X
