Chub Rub: Be Prepared For Summer

Chub Rub….no one talks about it. It’s embarrassing, It’s humiliating, IT’S REAL!

Hi to those real girls out there, you don’t even HAVE to be overweight to get chub rub and so many people have it, even the men out there!

I have really struggled since I was young to tackle this, even when I was slimmer, and yes, I am now plus size and of course it has gotten worse but the great thing is now the awareness! That being said there are so many ways to tackle this now and you can go out, wear a dress and be COMFORTABLE!

1: Wear Pants

When I say pants, I mean chub rub shorts. There are so many to choose from, you can get the all in one body suits or one like these

2. Chub Rub Cream/Gel

It wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I discovered Lanacane. Lanacane is an anti-chafing gel and so easy to apply. The gel acts as a gel barrier between your legs and its transparent so you cant see it which is fab! It means you can wear anything and not worry that your dress may come up and show shorts. But Some of us would rather someone see shorts than our bottom I suppose!

Chub rub cream

You can buy this in Boots stores. This is my favourite as it does what it says on the tin. Its not greasy and it feels really nice on your skin. Its handy to carry around however I only ever need it twice as a maximum only on a really hot day if I’m walking around a lot! A little goes a long way!

Another chub rub that the lovely Callie Thorpe mentioned in a live video once was a cream called Thigh Rescue that she was recommended and she swears by it. I’ve not tried it but if you to give it a go you can get it from the link below but it will have to be shipped. this cream is made to be kind to the skin in intimate areas so I’m deffo going to give it a go!

3. Vaseline

Not one that I’ve tried but some swear by Vaseline. A lot of sports people use this however I’m not 100% its great for us that are overweight with chub rub. My advice would be to wear shorts also to prevent it further from rubbing together.

4. Talc Powder

Also known as baby powder, it helps to keep the area dry and he skin soft. This one I have tried but the problem is that it gets really messy! you can apply it every so often but I don’t find that it prevents but rather helps after the chafing has occurred. But its cheap and an easy solution if you have nothing to hand.

I really hope these things help. I’ve had such a tough time with this growing up and it can be embarrassing but don’t let it stop you doing what you want to do!

Such great tips! I sometimes (when it’s really really hot) suffer from this and I’ll definitely going to try out these tips!

    Yasssss!
Hate chub rub. I wear cotton cycling shorts which are super cheap from eBay which are great for not only combating chub rub but also are really handy for keeping my modesty when running around after a 2 year old!

One more to add to the list, cream stick deodorant, the solid kind. If you’ve got nothing else to hand they can be a life saver, I’ve used both sure and dove ones on my thighs and they’ve worked so well.
