Where can you go come rain or shine??? Ramside Spa, That’s where.
Let’s face it, the British weather can be unreliable so I’m always looking for places to go on a good and bad day.
If you’re from the North East you would have heard about this place but if you’re not. Ramside is a luxury spa hotel based in Durham, County Durham. It is the Spa extension of Ramside Hall and just as luxurious.
From the minute you walk through the doors you can switch off and relax!
Last year I visited for my birthday and loved it so much I went back again this year. I did it differently however last year I went for the morning and this year we did the whole day with the Simply Spa offer.
The Spa has so much to do for the whole day if that’s your thing.
Ramside Spa: Fusion Restaurant
The Asian bar is set in the entrance of the spa and is simply stunning! It’s a great comfortable place to relax and have drinks, brunch, lunch or an evening meal. last year I had the brunch but this year we had lunch. I was surprised by how much selection there was. You can choose from sandwiches, Thai starters or mains. You get the whole meal, not a mini size lunch you might expect within a deal. The service is impeccable authentic from the staff to the menu and chef. I had the yellow curry and was so shocked by the amount of chicken, I couldn’t even finish the dish!
Fitness Suite
If the spa all day is not your thing then you could have a good gym session before relaxing. The fitness suite is state of the art. It has Speedflex HIIT equipment as well as free weights and lots of cardio equipment to choose from.
There are over 50 classes per week and there was no surprise that on our spa day we were surrounded by gym members.
The Spa
Wow well, where do I start? like I said you can choose to be out or in. There’s plenty to chose from. It was a glorious day and we nabbed a spot outside in the sun next to the heated outdoor pool. When it got a bit busy and hot I sat in the covered sunloungers out the way enjoying the peace and quiet.
inside you can choose from the main swimming pool if you’re wanting a good swim of lengths or the jacuzzi. In that main room, you have ample loungers to choose from as well as an aromatherapy steam room and the entrance to the sunken sauna. This sauna is great for large groups as its massive! a perfect place for a hen party.
In the room leading on to the outside is my favorite room. This room has the large hydro pool with swan necks and massage jets and perfects to iron out any knots you may have without having an actual message.
On the side, they have an infinity pool which is perfect for couples and a mud ritual you can also get at an extra cost. I have not tried either of these but I imagine, like the rest of the spa they will be lovely.
I had the most amazing day, the weather was perfect, I caught a tan, relaxed, ate great food and spent quality time with my family.
The Simply Spa offer was £75 each and considering the Morning only spa deal is £55, you really get a lot more for your money. it includes a 2-course lunch and access to the spa all day from 9am to 5pm.

It looks lovely! One of the few North East spas we’ve not made it to yet so I must plan a visit soon!
