Fat Hippo “Toy Story” and Gluten Free Review

Fat Hippo has been around for a while and people rave they have the best burgers. So I had to try for myself.

Fat Hippo are in Newcastle, Jesmond and Durham in the North East and I headed to the Jesmond branch to try out the new “Toy Story 4” specials.

There’s a shake in my boot £4.70

Of course, you know the famous Woody line! This strawberry thick shake has added whipped cream, Marshmallows and pink jelly pigs. It tastes delicious, so even if you only pop in for a drink you have to try this. Or do what I did and try out for dessert! I really wish this wasn’t a special so I could have it all year round!

Reach For The Fries £10.90

So this is the main dish however, it is massive! I’d say you could share between 3 people. My partner couldn’t finish it and that’s saying something! This dish has everything you want except the burger. Crinkle cut loaded shrimp fries, topped with gooey cheese crispy ham bits. Then finished with Fat Hippo’s slaw. The shrimp were so fresh!

So this is my first food review since I found out that due to circumstances I have to eat a Gluten Free diet. Fat Hippo is one of the first places I haven’t eaten out at.

They have a great selection of Gluten free choices to choose from which I was surprised. I have always felt that when I look at the menu’s there is not much choice.

Gluten Free Fat Hippo Burger

The Fat Hippo Burger usually comes with Onion Rings however the Gluten Free option does not. It does, however, come with hand cut chips. With the skins on they are amazing!

The Fat Hippo is a double patty burger with bacon, cheese and fat hippo sauce. The Burger was so big but it was so GOOD! I was very impressed that I could hardly tell the difference in the gluten free option.

I can’t wait to go back for another burger but more importantly that Milkshake too! Perhaps I’ll have to get the milkshake to take out for when I go to see Toy Story 4 next week. Who else is going?
