Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Central Station has had a makeover. You can now find Destination 1850 in the entrance foyer of the grand building.

Destination 1850 has a different way of thinking. It’s a perfect location in the city centre. You can have drinks before you catch the train or drinks when you arrive. Brilliant for visitors to Newcastle but not someone for stag or hen do’s unless it’s sophisticated. The place can have a few different identities depending on why you are visiting.

We visited for an evening meal, however, the menu caters for snacks and lunch too. Including the most amazing take out if you need to grab a train too.
I love the selection of cakes, and they are not hard to miss. We had cake and hot chocolate for dessert which was amazing. I’ll get to that later.

When I was visiting it was a dark cold night, to be honest, I was worried it would be cold. Central Sation is a grand building and not heated. But to my surprise, the seating is heated! trust me, it’s AMAZING. There is seating that is tucked behind the bar. It is more private in the booths and nice for dinner in the evening.
There are a big selection os fresh pizzas, to sit in or out. They also a big selection of starters and sharing plates too. We chose some halloumi fries to share to starters. Although the Katsu fries also sounded fab too!

For mains, we chose a salad bowl which was very fresh! Packed with salad and lots of meat, the sweet chilli sauce was incredible. The portion sizes are great too as you can see.

I wanted something a little more substantial than a salad. So I opted for a chilli burrito. I was very impressed with the presentation. But it was hot! Great for a cold day but spicy, my brother loved it. It was fresh and super tasty too.

So when I mentioned dessert, it was lovely. I had white-hot chocolate and my brother a normal one with a tipple of brandy because we were both under the weather. That was the best part. The staff are really lovely here. so even if you were alone at the station. you would have someone to chat too!
So on a final note, aside from the location, staff and food. The prices were decent. I don’t think it’s mega cheap but the prices are very reasonable. It is somewhere I am really eager to go back to and who knows when my next trip might be. Soon hopefully!

Your meals look amazing! This looks like a really classy place, I love the decor so much. Also heated seating is GENIUS! What a clever way to keep warm in a big old building like a station. I haven’t been to Newcastle for a while but next time I go I’ll be sure to check Destination 1850 out, if only for those incredible looking hot chocolates!
Wow all this food looks incredible! Heated seating? In a restaurant? I’ve never heard of that before but that sounds amazing! x
The food looks so good! I want heated seating in my house let alone in a restaurant! haha xx
Everything you chose looks absolutely delicious – my mouth is watering right now! And I’ve honestly never heard of heated seating in a restaurant, but it’s such a brilliant idea for the colder months!

That chilli burrito looks to die for! The salad looks great but I agree I would have gone with something more substantial. The coffees look amazing too x
