If there is any event I look forward to the most it is The Curve Fashion Festival. Not only is it a fab event but it’s in Liverpool. My fave UK city apart from Newcastle OBVS!
You can read my previous post on the TCFF 2018.
2019 saw the return back to the Exhibition Centre on the docks. This made all the difference. In 2018 the venue had changed and it didn’t seem to work. I’d like to focus on the positive about that because it was so busy and not enough room to get around. That spoke volumes to me about just how big the curve fashion industry has become. Being honest it wasn’t great for accessibility and some people really struggled and so being back at the exhibition centre it as a sigh of relief. It is a totally accessible building with no stairs and the venue hall itself is much much bigger.
TCFF 2019 saw the return of major fashion brands but an array of lots of new ones like Nasty Gal and Shein. I have to say I spent a lot of money at Shein, it’s a firm fave of mine. Spread throughout of the stands there was lots of seating areas and a chance to sit and get a drink and catch up with people in real life you only speak to over the internet.
Curve influencers and models
While I was standing at the Matalan stand I was chatting away and heard this American voice and instantly recognised Nicole. The funny thing was it was exactly the same for her, it is so sweet to know that people support you and meeting them in real life.
If you wondering what it is all about: The Curve Fashion Festival is a one-day event where plus size brands that offer a size 14 upwards showcase what they have to offer. Some stalls have clothes you can purchase and some have your fave plus size models or influencers for meet and greets.
Throughout the day there is a jam-packed schedule of catwalks and chats with famous brands and inspiring women. It is the most refreshing catwalk you will see as a plus-size woman. We are talking real life plus size women. Not just a slightly curvy model that is on the catwalk these days.
It is because of this that everyone feels they are in a safe place. For me this year I took my friends from Newcastle down to Liverpool for the weekend. It was some of their first times at the event and in Liverpool. They loved it.
When we all got to the Novhotel where we were staying we compared the things we bought and our goody bags from the brands. The best thing about staying at this hotel is that it is only a couple of minutes walk from the event. Also right the corner from the shops and the bars too.
We stayed in the executive suites with the best view and the most amazing huge bathroom. We got bathrobes and the first night decided after our food downstairs we stayed in for a girls night. Plus, we were so full we couldn’t move! I love the food from the Ropewalks restaurant. This was not the first time I have eaten here and every time I return there are a new menu and such amazing food.
On the second night, we went out out! It was fab because all the the girls I got to see at the event were out too. I’m telling you one-weekend isn’t enough.
I cannot wait to attend the 2020 Curve Fashion event this year. Tickets are now on sale and I am already planning my weekend. I really recommend this event if you are plus sized. I feel that it installs so much confidence in being surrounded by such positive babes that you have to try it. It is only going to get bigger and better.
See you there!
