Stripes are back in for 2020. More controversially lots of people say this pattern is for everyone. I agree with that. But I don’t agree with the principle behind it. Mainly because stripes flatter any body type. Or some people boldly say “make you look slimmer”.
In 2020 expect to see lots of stripes. Big ones, small one, horizontal and vertical. Personally, I love a clash of prints. I love clashing a stripe with a floral if I can.
How to wear Stripes
The history for me goes back to the 90’s. the stripe Breton jumpers and navy and white stripes that give off a very french fashion feel. But as fashion has expended you can see more and more different ways to wear a stripe. Think of a striped suit (not beetlejuice) for example. Or bright colours, You can even add a bit of animal print stripe into the mix. Very on-trend!
I’ve put together my top picks from Shein Curve. Of course for us plus size ladies. It’s not about looking flattering but feeling good!
For other ideas of what to buy From Shein you check out my galentines posts too.
The Striped Blouse
I absolutely love the blue and white stripe. It’s so simple yet effective and you can wear it almost anything.
In the spring and summer, I can’t think of anything more classy than a blue and white shirt. It’s something that can keep you cool and I think it’s conservative and can look quite expensive.
Although this shirt is not expensive at all. I Love the extended length at the back and the tie waist to show off your waist and give shape. This belt comes unattached and so if you didn’t feel like wearing it, you could use it as a headband or something else creative.
The Striped Skirt
Pastel colours are on trend this spring and the colour mint can be seen everywhere! I’m a huge fan of using the same colour throughout thew whole outfit and that’s what I’ve done here.
This mint green midi A line skirt is perfect for spring. The material is light and flowing and the stripes help give the skirt dimension.
If you are similar to me then I always wear dresses or leggings. I need to try and wear more skirts and this one is certainly eye catching.
The stripes on this skirt are vertical and so help the eye to think that it is elongating the body. As I am only 4ft 9in i’ll take anything for those extra added inches. The material is gorgeous too and super light weight.
I have styled this for a day time look however swapping the jumper for a cami would give you a lovely night time look or something more formal, especially if you add some heels.
The Date Night Top
I am always on the lookout for something that has that bit extra. Something that is a little different. That’s why I love this foldover shoulder bow front peplum top. That’s a mouthful but because this top does so much!
The peplum style is so flattering and gives that shape we all die for. It helps show off those beautiful curves you all have! I fell in love with this foldover shoulder detail. It’s a perfect in between modest and that confident showing off you shoulder look.
With this added bow detail it gives the look a girly feminine feel and those small stripes add texture to the look. This look is a way to wear stripes that are not defined and noticeable as the detail in all in the design of the top.
All 3 outfit ideas in my opinions are super affordable however you can treat yourself to an EXTRA 15% off with my code gemQ2. Valid until June 30th 2020.
