Newcastle Upon on Tyne has welcomed it’s latest restaurant, The Hard Rock Cafe.
It’s been a while in the waiting. Almost 6 months to be exact since I was waiting for the confirmation that the North East was getting it’s own Hard Rock. Hard Rock Newcastle has been on the tips of everyone’s lips during lockdown and what a better way to celebrate our new freedom and normal lives.

After so long locked in our own houses, I honestly couldn’t eat anymore of my own cooked food. Newcastle has so much to offer but was missing one thing. A Hard Rock Newcastle.

Location, Location, Location
On the banks of the River Tyne, there really is NO better location than directly underneath the iconic Tyne Bridge. The eye of the Toon. The Newcastle Quayside is the spot where everyone heads for a meal to remember with the best views and atmosphere.

The restaurant is located in the unique historic Guildhall, which is a grade 1 listed building.. The restaurant takes up 2 floors of the building. However there are some vital elements of the building that have been untouched. When speaking to the general manager they were keen to keep as much history to the location and possibly offer tours in the future.

There’s no escaping the Hard Rock theme from the moment you step into the building. It has been turned into a tavern of rock memorabilia for die hard fans! The first item that caught my eye was Amy Winehouse love letter to Blake. Followed by a gorgeous Taylor Swift dress and some Aretha Franklin treasures too.

Most of the best memorabilia are from rock legends around the world. Some of which will bring back many memories of gigs transporting you back in time. Some are from the North East region and so pay a tribute the the region and bringing it back to why the next franchise should have been the North East.
Local entrepreneurs Dave and Penny Tilly hit the nail on the head when they imagined what it would bring to the area. They were supported by the Hard Rock team who have invested incredibly into the new venue. After visiting on launch night, they joined the panel of interviews and were incredibly pleased with the results and excited to see it grow.
The Menu
Now let’s talk food. The menu offers a both a traditional menu with some new local additions.

The star of the show is the Whey Aye Burger. A brand new invented burger paying homage to local foods.
The bun as you can see is a black charcoal with white seeds for a black and white theme. The tower of taste includes northumberland cheese, horseradish cream, spring onion and pease pudding. a favourite in the region. To finish it all off is the Newcastle Brown Ale onion compote. A lot of time went in to making this burger extra special and the compote is the cheery on the top.

I also samples the sharing platters which are fab for group just wanted to head in and have a few classic cocktails and enjoy the music.
The sliders are another fave of mine too as well as the steak salad. The steak was so fresh and perfectly cooked there is something for all tastes. If you’re looking for a family meal the milkshakes will be a winner with the kids, or even the big kids too!

The restaurant has worked super hard to implement a safe and sound environment for everyone to enjoy and bookings are available online now.
