Lake District Spa Stay With A View: Beech Hill Hotel & Spa

Are you looking for a place to stay in the Lakes that has a spa and close to everything you need?

I recently stayed at Beech Hill Hotel & Spa and could not believe how much of a perfect location it was!

The best view in the lakes!

The hotel is just a few minutes drive from Bowness on Windermere. Also right on the front of the lake itself. The Hotel has just had a recent makeover and has some really superb new suites what have the best views over the lake.

If you are like me and always looking for a place to stop after a days hiking then this is perfect.

We ventured to do Wansfell Hike in the morning, after a 3 hour hike I could not wait to check in and head to a spa. The Hotel has over 55 rooms over several floors and some with amazing views of the beautiful hotel gardens and Lake Windermere. You can also go down to the lake and access it for wild water swimming. It was a little too cold for us on our stay but there was plenty of professionals out and across the lake.

All rooms have what you need, flat screen TV, toiletries, hair dryer and the hotel also offers room service. I do have to stay they don’t have conditioner so be sure to take that.

The Hotel dates back to the 1900’s with traditional touches throughout, however it is undergoing a makeover to some rooms. We stayed in one of the newly renovated suites: The Windermere suite.

Our suite was just amazing! With a kingside bed, a living area and a study area, you think you have everything need you need until you realise you also have a whole outside private space including a hot tub. That’s in case you want some privacy rather than the spa. Unfortunately our hot tub was not available to use on our stay but it would be a great thing to use. It’s a perfect spot for couples to celebrate.

The Spa

The Lakeview spa is on a floor of it’s own and offers indoor, outdoor space and a salon too. We didn’t have any treatments but the salon areas were inviting and clean. You have to book youre time slot to ensure it doesn’t get too busy which is something I really appreciate as it can often defeat the point of it being relaxing.

The inside pool is a great space with loungers around the pool to relax. It has a steam room and sauna that are both a really good size. Outside apart from the breath-taking views you have loungers and cabanas and also two very big Jacuzzis allowing plenty of room for everyone.

Back to the suite, everything was brand new and the views from the spa continued from our room. It has a top of the range TV and a huge bathroom with a great size tub. Our suite was comfortable and we didn’t hear anything through the night with a greats night sleep.

Fine Dining

The Beech Hill Hotel & Spa is home to the award winning Burlington’s Restaurant. Head chef Lukasz specialises on French and English cuisine and it really shows through the menu. The service was impeccable and felt really special. While sitting in front of the log fire we had some canapés while waiting for our table. Then we were brought over and the timing was great.

They offer set meals including children’s one too and use all fresh ingredients. For starters I tried the Ham Hock and Pheasant Terrine which was the first time I tried pheasant. It was beautifully presented and accompanied with a delicious black garlic ketchup. This wont be the last time I try this now.

For main we tried the classic chicken dish which was poach roasted local chicken and then we also had the Confit Duck Leg. A popular French dish served with red cabbage and poached pear. It was cooked to perfect. I actually cant believe I’m saying this but we were so full that we couldn’t manage dessert and retired to bed after a long day of hiking. For two courses it is £34.95 which is amazing for the quality of food, ingredients and customer service. The restaurant itself is a great place for special occasions set over the backdrop of the lake. It also has outside seating all year round but probably nicer during the summer.

Our sleep was so lovely. There was no sound what so ever and to wake up to the views over Windermere was the best start to the day.

As much as we didn’t want to leave we headed back to Burlingtons for breakfast. Because I missed my sweet fix I opted for French toast for breakfast and it did not disappoint!

For breakfast you you can choose from continental cheese and ham, fruit, toast, pancakes and the straight forward cereal. You also get to choose off the menu and trust me, you will be set for the day. Certainly an energy build up if youre off out hiking or walking.

I had a sneek peak at others eating and full English breakfast which looked great. I really enjoyed my coffee too! After checking the Beech Hill Hotel and Spa out with sad faces we headed a few minutes drive back into Bowness in Windermere. We enjoyed a boat ride which took us around the small islands on the lake. Then we explored more of the lakes before we headed home with clear minds and well rested.

*gifted stay however all opinions are my own
